The Inaugural Event: The Getting Real Series
This powerful participatory session challenges people to examine their own biases and work together to learn how to achieve inclusive excellence. Goals of this program are to help foster a culture of understanding, support, and acceptance within our campus community and to create an inclusive environment whereby all members feel respected and welcomed. Dr. Derek Greenfield, a well-known speaker on diversity, inclusion, and motivation, will facilitate and lead this inaugural event. Prior to becoming a visionary speaker, Dr. Greenfield spent 20 years in higher education as a professor, administrator, and most recently a chief diversity officer. He has two doctoral degrees – a PhD from the University of Washington and an EdD from Cape Peninsula University of Technology in South Africa. The University Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is sponsoring this event and funding is provided by Belleville’s Dean of Students Office and St. Charles’ Office of Student Life & Diversity and Student Involvement. The same session is being offered twice, thus we hope you will be able to attend one of the sessions.
Please RSVP by Friday, February 1, 2019.
